Dublin Gig Guide : 20th – 27th November 2016

This week the Sound Training Online Dublin gig guide brings you an eclectic mix of all things live!

First off, on Monday night Paul Simon will follow hot on the heels of Rod Stewart, and will be performing at the 3Arena in promotion of his newest release "Stranger to Stranger" which has been available on shelves since June.

Tuesday night sees the 3Arena play host again but this time to Jess Glynne as she brings her familiar style of indie pop to Ireland for her biggest headline show on the island to date, be sure to check out both gigs if you can!

On Wednesday night, *The Helix presents Chance The Rapper performing his first of two shows this week, both of which are sold out unfortunately! *Unfortunately both gigs have been cancelled*. Also on Wednesday night the Olympia Theatre has Brian Fallon performing a solo set. Fallon as some may known is the lead singer and guitar player for American rock band "The Gaslight Anthem", Fallon's solo take on alternative indie rock will be sure to captivate his audience! Tickets (at time of writing) are still available and will set you back a minuscule €29.50 for a standing ticket.

There is also plenty of homegrown talent performing around Dublin this week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday all hold host to Irish acts. Thursday the ever present Saw Doctors are gracing the stage of the Olympia for the first of two shows in two days for the classic rockers.*Both shows cancelled*.

The beautifully whacky synth-rockers Meltybrains? play The Academy on Friday evening which is sure to be a crazy gig, and Lynched take the stage at Vicar Street on Saturday night with there modern take on traditional irish and folk its sure to be a fantastic night. (Check out "Daffodil Mulligan" if you've never heard them before!)

Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro headline the 3Arena on Saturday night which is sure to be a great show. Going from strength to strength over the last few years and plenty more left in the tank make sure you check them out for what is shaping up to be a great night, and with support from Long Island alt-rockers Brand New, its not one to miss! Finally, closing out the weekend is trance gurus Above & Beyond, you can expect a great show at the Olympia Theatre if thats your kind of thing!

As always our pick of the week this week was extremely tough as there is so much to choose from and there really is something on to suit all tastes. After narrowing it down we decided that this weeks pick of the week is alternative-space-rockers God Is An Astronaut! Friday night at The Button Factory is where you can catch them this time around. Having played all over the world including shows in China, North America, Hong Kong and Europe they finally return to play show in the native land! This gig is going to top all the foreign shows as it will be a homegrown audience and will be a serious night out for any fan of a great live performance. The energy and engagement they have while performing live is second to none and they have been praised many times all over the world for this. Not one to miss!
