Dublin Gig Guide : 12th – 18th December

Dublin Gig Guide

12th – 18th December

It’s that time of the week again! The time where we create happiness and cheers amongst you all with our weekly instalment of our Dublin Gig Guide!  Your weekly supply of all the best gigs happening in Dublin for the next week! Quiet enough this week early on, but as the weekend draws closer there is a huge amount of stuff going on around the city! Again, this week showcases quite a number of home-grown Irish acts proving that Dublin is continuous with its support of Irish music!

Monday kicks off with a performance in the Christchurch Cathedral with Irish musician Colm Mac Con Iomaire, Colm will be bringing his set of traditional Irish tunes and feel to Christchurch on Monday evening, Tuesday night unfortunately there is not many headline gigs around the city so we have suggested you check out The Ruby Sessions located in Doyle’s Pub adjacent to Trinity College, many great acts have performed here over the years so you could witness the next big thing! Wednesday evening is another quiet one on the gig front, but we do have self proclaimed “fierce female foursome” Mongoose gracing the stage at Whelan’s. These ladies have become a staple in the diet of Irish folky pop tracks that grab the attention of the listener and Whelan’s is the perfect setting for the show! Thursday night we have a serious double header in the one of the city’s newest live music venues, The Bowery in Rathmines. Gigging there on Thursday night is the Irish synth heavy Le Galaxie and Female led rockers Bitch Falcon. Both of these acts have really made a name for themselves with plenty of gigs behind them and much more to come from both acts in the future, this is definitely not one to be missed! Also on Thursday night, Shoegazer rockers The Altered Hours play the Grand Social the final of four shows in Ireland. Copies of their first album “In Heat Not Sorry” have been re-pressed and are available in limited edition orange vinyl and will be available to buy at the gig!

We will kick off the weekend with The Academic, the Irish rockers are going to be huge, well they’re already huge! They play the Button Factory on Friday night and coming off recent success of landing a worldwide publishing deal with Global Publishing! Gigs by Jerry Fish, Dan Owen and worldwide Irish phenomenon’s, Little Green Cars return home to perform in front of the crowd at Vicar Street each gig is due to be a good one! Saturday sees those Little Green Cars beep their way back into Vicar Street again, as well as another Irish export, Raglans who play one of their final shows after a busy year at the Grand Social! On the other side of town at the Sugar Club, we have Stomptown Brass, having played a number of shows in recent times, Stomptown really bring a great vibe of R&B, Funk and Soul to the Sugar Club, another one not to be missed! Sunday night we have Irish post-rockers Enemies performing at Vicar Street, tickets are only €20 so be sure to get down to hear some seriously great music! Finally, somewhat easier way to end the week we have Badly Drawn Boy playing The Bowery in Rathmines, with his catchy indie-folk tracks and the beautiful setting of The Bowery, it’s gearing up to be a fantastic show, tickets from €22.90+. But our GIG OF THE WEEK this week is……(drum roll please)… RAGLANS at The Grand Social! Raglans have been working extremely hard this past year, recording an album, signing to UK indie label Fierce Panda and touring around Europe, they return to the motherland for what is going to be a great night of music! Be sure to drop in! Tickets are only €12!!
