Dublin Gig Guide: 19th – 25th February 2018

Dublin Gig Guide: 19th -25th February 2018

Starting off the week on Monday evening, we have Galantis playing at the Olympia Theatre! Galantis is a Swedish production duo, Christian Karlsson (also of Bloodshy & Avant and Miike Snow) and Linus Eklow (Style of Eye). The Pharmacy reached No. 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart and spawned hit singles “Peanut Butter Jelly” and “Runaway (U&I),” the latter of which is RIAA certified gold in 7 countries and earned Grammy nominations! Tickets from €26.40!

Tuesday is a busy night around the city with indie rock ban The Xcerts playing in Whelan’s and UK Grime superstar Wiley playing at the Olympia Theatre! But, the big one on Tuesday night is taking place at the 3 Arena is a man who needs no introduction. Morrisey will be playing as part of his UK & Ireland tour! “Low In High School” his most recent effort was released in November of last year to overall good reviews and is his first album in three years! Tickets still available so snap them up quick!

Wednesday night, The Sugar Club plays host to melodic techno wizard, Christian Löffler and guest singer Mohna! Playing alongside four violinists, Löffler & Mohna will mix sounds from a number of different sources to create what should be, a fantastic cacophony of sound. This combined new sound is one that Löffler would love to have at his home studio! “Most of the time it’s the violin that makes a difference in sound, the organic element that I’d love to already have during the very early production phase of a new track“, states Löffler. Pre-sale tickets are sold out but there will be a very limited number available on the door!

Another busy night on Thursday as  Liam Ó Maónlai and the Hothouse Flowers will be performing at Vicar Street as well as Dermot Kennedy who is playing a SOLD OUT show at the Olympia Theatre! The highlight of the night will be Kygo in the 3 Arena! As part of the “Kids In Love Tour” Norwegian superstar, Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll better know as Kygo is a world-renowned producer, songwriter, DJ and music marvel who has turned himself into an international sensation in unprecedented time. He was crowned Spotify’s Breakout Artist of 2015, as songs including “Firestone (feat. Conrad Sewell)” and “Stole The Show (feat. Parson James)”, which was certified gold or platinum in sixteen countries, helped him become the fastest artist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify! Some tickets are still available!

Friday night we have Jiggy performing in Whelan’s which is always a fantastic night! They are described as “having forged a sound very much their own, fusing vocal lilting (port a’ bhéil) & Indian Konnakol, Irish traditional music, hip hop dance grooves, world music rhythms and harmonies. Audience can expect a thrilling live set of original songs and traditional dance tunes.”

Saturday night, we have Marlon Williams playing at Whelan’s as well as Minimal Techno heavyweight Nathan Fake playing at the Button Factory from 11PM! Alternative Rock band Elbow will perform at the 3Arena off the back of their album 7th studio album which was released in February of 2017. Produced by Craig Potter ‘Little Fictions’ is emphatically a band album. Having written individually for its chart-topping predecessor, ‘The Take Off and Landing of Everything’, sessions this time were collective affairs, with all four members gathered initially in a house in Scotland before moving to Guy’s attic in Prestwich and finalising recordings in the familiar setting of Blueprint studios, Salford. Always a band that give it 110% in a live setting, this gig should be no different!

And finally closing out the week on Sunday evening we have Seal! A completely sold out show be sure to expect all the hits from this fantastic performer! He plays the Olympia Theatre with doors from 7PM!
