Dublin Gig Guide 6th February – 12th February

It’s that time of the week once more! We here at Sound Training are back with our weekly Gig Guide for all the info you need for all the best shows around the city for the up and coming week!

First up on Monday evening at the Olympia Theatre, we have Icelandic folk-rockers Kaleo playing at 8PM, Kaleo have gathered a massive fan base over the last 2 or 3 years proving that there is more great Icelandic music out there other than Sigúr Rós! Again showing that they ain’t going anywhere tickets for this one are sold out! On Wednesday night over in The Sound House on Eden Quay we have their monthly night “Culture Vultures” and headlining this is Irish Duo We Cut Corners. The lads have been mentioned in our Gig Guide before and they are sure to put on a great show in one of Dublin’s newer venues which used to go by the name “The Pint”, along with some spoken word with John Cummins if you’re not up to anything else make sure to check it out!

Thursday night the Olympia plays host to Madeleine Peyroux, a French-American jazz musician. Tickets for this night of smooth tasteful jazz will set you back €36.50. Over in Vicar Street again on Thursday night we have good ol’ Finbar Furey. Furey, who hails originally from Ballyfermot, Dublin has been Vicar Street regular for a while now and in lieu of this he has added TWO extra dates due to his February show selling out! Be sure to catch one of the shows in the next year!

Kicking off the weekend we have electrohouse DJ Don Diablo playing a gig in The Academy, always one to put on a great show and some crazy lights and visuals be sure to make it down if you can! Then on Saturday night at the Olympia Theatre we have English folk singer-songwriter performing. Always performing with great emotion and talent it is sure to be a great night.

Finally on Sunday night we have two very different gigs, first off in the Olympia we have old-schoolers Mike & The Mechanics, the english pop-rockers will be performing all the hits and for those of you who are in the mood for some nostalgia! Then over in Vicar Street closing out this weeks gigs is american emo-rockers Taking Back Sunday, they certaintly will take back Sunday with their brash brand of distorted guitars and hardcore breakdowns. Tickets are still available at €29 be sure to get down for old classic hits!

Our gig of the week this week has got to be an Irish legend FINBAR FUREY! Furey always plays to a packed out crowd and because of this he had to add two more shows for this year! Make sure you try and get a ticket sorted for any of the shows as they will not be ones you will want to miss!
