We’re back again with another instalment of our weekly Dublin Gig Guide! It’s its happening in Dublin we know about! All the info you need in one quick and easy guide! Loads happening around the city this week so lets kick off with Monday night!
Nik Kershaw will be playing at Vicar Street! Kershaw had shown interest in music at a much later stage in his life than many others, not picking up a guitar until the age of 15 after watching a David Bowie documentary! With influences ranging from T-Rex to Deep Purple, Simon & Garfunkel to Genesis he quickly began playing in bands. His seminal album “Human Racing” was released in March and has received Platinum sales in many territories! Catch him from 8PM! Tuesday evening, the infamous Neil Diamond will be gracing the stage at the 3 Arena as part of his 5oth Anniversary tour of Europe! He has added these shows onto the success of a Worldwide tour! Diamond has one of the most illustrious careers in the music industry including Grammy award wins and being inducted into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame! Tickets still available for this one at €83 a piece!
Also on Tuesday night, we have British indie-pop band Fickle Friends who will be performing at The Academy. After recently signing to Polydor Records after years of trying to go it alone, the 5-piece toured around the UK festival circuit and play this special 14+ show in The Academy! Tickets available at €15.85 each!
Little Hours have been one of those bands you hear all over the place and with good reason! The alternative pop duo have been making waves across the country with performances at Electric Picnic as part of the Play The Picnic competition in association with Oxfam. A really good live band, they captivate crowds with their catchy songs and are bound for stardom! Catch them at The Sugar Club on Wednesday night! Meanwhile, over in Whelan’s, we have Arcane Roots! The trio recently released their latest effort “Melancholia Hymns” which is full of ambition, electronica, riffs, strings, darkness and light! They play Whelan’s as part of a full UK & European tour and tickets are still available at €16! Ryan McMullan is a fairly well known performer who will be supporting Ed Sheeran at his 3 Arean dates in the coming weeks and it’s by no mean feat did he achieve that! Known for his raw & gritty stage performance, McMullan songwriting is filled with rich & varied tones and emotion. He plays Whelan’s from 8PM!
Kicking off the weekend, we have The Swing Cats with their live performance of “The Story Of Swing”, an absolute must for all fans of swing music! With a captivating, theatrical and energetic live performance the Swing Cats really embrace everything that people love about Swing music. Catch them at the Olympia on Friday to kick off the weekend with a bang! Down the road from the Olympia Theatre we have Cry Monster Cry playing at the Button Factory. Cry Monster Cry is the brainchild of two brothers hailing from Dublin, off the recent success of their sold out gigs at Whelan’s the brothers are back! This time, Cry Monster Cry will bring their distinct brand of thoughtful songwriting, fraternal harmonies & textured acoustic arrangements to The Button Factory for what promises to be a very good gig. The lads are going from strength to strength and to add another fantastic performance on Other Voices to their long list of live gigs, be sure to check them out!
As for the rest of the weekend we have glam-rockers The Darkness playing a sold out show at The Academy on Saturday night as well as the Boogie-Woogie maestro himself Mr. Jools Holland!
