First Term STC Student Experience Update

Live Sound, Lighting & Stage Production

In their first weeks on the course, our students have been introduced to many elements of the Music Industry. In the Button Factory, we have been working on venue setup, including lighting, sound and stage. The class have already setup a small gig with four acts chosen for our Searchlight Development Deal. They will be working with these acts over the next five months, developing their stage show.

Sound Engineering & Music Production Diploma

Our Advanced students got stuck straight into life in Apollo Studios when they came back for the new term. They are very busy during the day with classes and in the evenings practicing on the Neve console and in our Production Suites. Class groups have also met the acts they will be working with on our Searchlight Development Deal. Our Advanced students will be working on recording, mixing and producing the acts to industry standard over the next five months.

Creative Music Production Degree

Our Degree students are busy this week with a location recording project, borrowing new microphones from our partners, Sennheiser and Neumann, to capture live performances. They have also been working in Elektra Studios in Temple Bar and the National Film School in IADT, immersing themselves in industry standard equipment.

All Students, Old and New!

All of our students have been enjoying our Guest Lectures and Seminars in the Button Factory, including our Musicmaker Drums, Guitars and Electronic workshops. On Wednesdays, our students DJ in the Crow Bar and the Button Factory; our student Production Company is having great success organising this. Our partners, IADT, had their Halloween Student Ball in our venue; this was another highlight of the term. It was also great to see so many of our graduates return to use our studios as professional Engineers and Producers over the last few weeks, lots of great success stories!
