Searchlight Showcase 2018

Another year, another Searchlight Showcase! An incredible platform for new bands, Searchlight returns this January to the Button Factory with a host of new artists, and some familiar faces. The Searchlight deal is still as packed as ever; this year three acts getting three months of pre-production for studio and live with the Sound Training College students. They record two tracks with Sound Training Productions, which are mixed and then mastered by Fergal Davis. All acts undergo intensive preparation for their live show, all culminating in the Searchlight Showcase on the 18th January 2018.

With two stages, and an eclectic mix of genres and bands, Searchlight 2018 is sure to provide you with “The Bands of the Future”! Performing on the night, No Tie Friday, Dreaming Of Jupiter, NIMF & Future Stops! Meanwhile over on the Showcase stage, we had Tanjier, Laura Ryder, Matilda O' Mahony & Ger Kelly!

The Bands



Infiltrating her new world, full of mysterious neon-lit pathways into enchanting forests; where only her wavering signals of sound can defend her against what this strange planet can bring.

Electrofantasy act NIMF is the winner of Pure M Best Newcomer. Her most recent release, My Choice, premiered on Nialler9 and Gigslutz UK, adding up to over 10,000 views. Since, she's been lining up gigs in the likes of the Grand Social, the Button Factory, and BIMM Midnight Hour in Whelans. NIMF has numerous music releases lined up for 2018 with her new found dreamy electronic sound and story.



Future Stops


Advertising themselves as "Some loud kids from Dublin making music." Future Stops are a 5-piece indie-rock band who have made quite a name for themselves over the past two years. From gigs in Whelan's & The Academy to releasing their first single "He Said/She Said" in August 2017, the future looks good! Check them out performing in Studio One of Sound Training Productions in preparation for Searchlight 2018 in Button Factory January 18th!





No Tie Friday


No Tie Friday is a four piece Indie Pop / Alternative band from Wicklow, with inspirations ranging from Bad Suns, Circa Waves, Two Door Cinema Club, The Academic and Foals. The band consists of Keith Molloy (Vocals + Rhythm Guitar), Matt Morgan (Drums), Niall McGurk (Bass) and Barra MacMahon (Lead Guitar).

The 4 piece have played venues such as The Button Factory, Whelan’s, The Grand Social, Workmans and The Sound House. They Released their debut EP ‘Long Drives and Sunsets’ in March 2017!







Tanjier are a Dublin based trio who have brought their indie electro-pop music to many of the major festivals and venues in Ireland. Their sound is inspired by acts like Coldplay, The 1975, and LCD Soundsystem.

2018 will see Tanjier explore new ground. All eyes are on the trio as they prepare to take a step in a new musical direction. Their next release will be in July 2018. This summer they will they play at Forbidden Fruit, Castlepalooza and more festivals TBA. Last year, Tanjier closed the Other Voices Festival, excited crowds at Electric Picnic, supported The Strypes, and performed throughout Ireland. They have gained a reputation as one of the most exciting Irish live acts. They bring energy, anthems and their own custom light/laser shows across the country. They have received national airplay, including live sessions on RTÉ 2FM.​ Electronic beats, growling synths, catchy guitar hooks and haunting vocals, Tanjier are modern musical story-tellers. In their lyrics, they have explored ideas like youth, mental health, prostitution and nostalgia. They provide a soundtrack for people living through the ironies of the modern age.
