The Album

Genre Free was recorded in 2012 by Sound Training College students to develop and promote 6 emerging acts. Each act received pre-production, recording, mixing and production and recorded 2 tracks for the release. Featured in 2012 were Kid Karate, Fredrick and the Golden Dawn, Izzy Quinn, The Dirty 9's (now Wild Promises), Fox Jaw, Bounty Hunters and The Fibbs. The album was produced in association with Hot Press.

The second year Sound Training College students were involved in every aspect of the production of the album, from the very start organising the bands, right through the recording and mixing process to the PR and launch and everything in between. Every year the students have the chance to get involved in a fantastic project like this and record a charity album. It's a great chance to really take ownership of a project and understand how the industry works, and is many student's favourite part of the course.
