Dublin Gig Guide 10th - 16th April
It's that time of the week again, our weekly instalment of the Dublin Gig Guide! This week we have a varied selection of gigs for you to sink your teeth into! It's Easter this week so Good Friday means no pubs or clubs will be open but fear not as the people behind one of the best one day festivals are putting on the BD festival again this year. A huge variation of artists will be performing at the Glendalough location, including Huxley, Format : B, Heroes In Hiding, Smash Hits, Jimmy Rouge to name a few. Another big gig this week is Ed Sheeran at the 3 Arena. Mr. Sheeran is touring off the back of his new album ÷ (Divide) and has sold out all of his European tour dates including two shows in Dublin and three shows in London. Always a crowd pleaser Sheeran will no doubt put on fantastic shows and if you're lucky enough to have snatched up a ticket for one of his shows make sure it's a good one!
Melanie C of Spice Girls fame is performing this week in Vicar Street, in promotion of her latest album "Version Of Me" that was released in October of last year. An album that was two years in the making has done quite well in the charts and others shows in the tour include gigs in Germany, Denmark and Switzerland.
Closing out the weekend on Sunday night we have two very different gigs, first off in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre we have old school crooner Chris de Burgh performing. June 1st of last year marked the 30th Anniversary of his album "Into The Light" which was the release that propelled him into the mainstream and established him as an international star. Expect all the old classics as well as some newer material! Over at Dublin's hottest electronic music venue, District 8 we have Dublin born and bred Dec Lennon or as most will know him as Krystal Klear. Bursting onto the music scene in 2010 Lennon has risen to become one of the most sought after dj's of the modern day. Lennon began making waves when he was asked to provide a guest mix for Mary Anne-Hobbs off the back of his popular hit "Tried For Your Love" which was played by another Radio one DJ Benji B for a record 13 weeks in a row! His track Addiction was signed to Sony which came with a music video and helped him secure more guest mixes for Benji B, Skream, Mary Anne Hobbs, Mistajam, and Annie Mac! Tickets are still available at €15 a pop!
Our GIG OF THE WEEK this week has got to be the BD Festival on Good Friday with a whole heap of great acts playing there will be no better place to be than here, hopefully the weather will be nice and sunny which would make the perfect day. Everything is better when it's sunny! Even better it's BYOB because of the Good Friday laws be sure to get your cans on Thursday!
