International Student Experience

Dublin is one of the best places in the world for International Students. Culture, atmosphere, live music and a wide range of festivals make Dublin the city it is. But while all of these are great reasons to study in Dublin, the quality of education and experience is of course the most important. Here at Sound Training College we offer a range of courses for International students, tailored to provide the knowledge and experience necessary to start your career in the music industry.

I don’t think there’s another course in the world that gives you more hands-on experience on a desk, either in a live venue or a studio.” - Song Lee (Live Sound graduate)

Our lectures are delivered by industry professionals with years of experience in the music industry who are actively working with some of the biggest names in the Irish music scene. Our aim is to balance theory lectures with practical hands-on experience, the end goal being to produce graduates that are confident and comfortable to jump straight into real jobs in the industry. We have our very own production company (Sound Training Productions) where you will experience what it’s like to record up and coming bands on Ireland’s only Avid S6 digital desk. Our live sound venue (The Button Factory) is one of Dublin’s best known venues. Here you will learn how to operate the live and lighting desks, something that you’ll put into practice in the three live showcase gigs that the college puts on every year.

Outside of lectures and practical experience, the most important aspect of the music industry (something neglected by a lot of colleges) is the business side of things. During your time with us, you’ll be involved in developing up and coming bands in our Searchlight Development Programme, record well established bands and learn what it’s like to release and promote an album during our yearly Charity release or alternatively produce and promote your own EMP gig. Throughout these programmes, you’ll form relationships with bands and key industry contacts, which is vital when it comes to pursuing your career in the industry.

So if you’re looking for a course focused on teaching you the skills and giving you the experience you need to kickstart your career in the music industry in a city well known for its vibrant student scene, look no further
